Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz is a member of the European university alliance FORTHEM<\/a> since 2019. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

FORTHEM is one of 60 European university alliances<\/a>, funded by the European Commission\u2019s Erasmus+<\/a> initiative. The alliance consists of nine universities from nine different countries that are working to strengthen transnational cooperation in the fields of education, research and innovation.<\/p>\n\n\n<\/jgu-base-tabsitem>\n\n\n \n\n

Before the lecture period officially begins, we organize the Welcome Week for all international students with a varied program including campus and city tours, information events and advising services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the introduction week, we will provide our international students<\/a> with all the important information they need at the beginning of their studies and offer plenty of help to get them started.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We, the International Office\u2019s Welcome Center<\/a>, are the central contact point for international researchers and their families. We offer advice on all non-academic and practical issues and support you in planning, preparing and realizing your research stay at JGU.<\/p>\n\n\n<\/jgu-base-tabsitem>\n\n\n \n\n

Mobility <\/strong>and scholarships<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are the central point of contact for students, researchers, artists, and staff who would like to spend time abroad. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Outbound students<\/em> can choose between a variety of destinations and programs. The Erasmus+ program<\/a> is the largest exchange program in Europe and gives you the opportunity to spend one or two semesters or a shorter period of time abroad. JGU also offers many other funding programs covering destinations around the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inbound students<\/em> can also apply for scholarships (e.g., from the Rhineland-Palatinate Scholarship Foundation<\/a>. The International Office supports and accompanies members of partner universities from all over the world and welcomes guests from institutions with which JGU has not yet concluded a cooperation agreement. <\/p>\n\n\n<\/jgu-base-tabsitem>\n\n\n \n\n

We provide comprehensive support to employees of JGU Mainz in preparing and submitting EU project proposals in the field of learning and teaching. We provide information on calls for proposals and funding structures and offer individual advising and hands-on help for all stages of a project \u2013 from submitting the application to implementing the project. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We translate administrative documents and websites for our university into English. We proofread English texts, and advise employees on language and translation issues. Please contact us for further information and in case of specific inquiries. In addition, the state-wide Coordination Office for Language and Translation Services RLP (LS\u00dc) supports the universities in Rhineland-Palatinate in their internationalization efforts \u2013 by translating key texts and documents for incoming students and researchers and by providing strategic advice on language and translation matters. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We coordinates the implementation of the university-wide internationalization strategy. The strategy was confirmed by JGU\u2019s Senate and signed by the president in 2019. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since the beginning of 2023, the faculties, central institutions and facilities, administrative divisions and departments of JGU have started implementing the measures defined in the strategy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \n<\/jgu-base-buttonitem>\n\n<\/jgu-base-button>\n\n<\/jgu-base-tabsitem>\n\n<\/jgu-base-tabs><\/div><\/div>\n<\/jgu-base-section>\n\n\n

We coordinate, maintain and expand JGU\u2019s network of international partners while working closely with our faculties\u2019 partnership representatives. Our network comprises different types of stays abroad, academic collaborations, integrated degree programs and other international projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
