The division is responsible for new construction, conversion, and renovation projects carried out under its own authority as building owner, and supports construction projects of the Landesbetrieb Liegenschafts- und Baubetreuung (LBB) in its role as user representative.
We design and implement safety measures to make sure you can arrive on campus, study, work, do research, and leave safely.
This also includes building maintenance provided by our facility management service, maintenance of green areas, and ensuring traffic safety throughout the campus.
We make sure you can get to and around the campus with ease. Whether by car, public transport, bicycle, or on foot. Information on vehicle access permits and the employee job ticket can be found here:

The Occupational Safety, Fire Safety, and Environment Protection team supports those responsible in all faculties and institutes with any questions that arise. We work closely with the responsible departments and the Landesbetrieb Liegenschafts- und Baubetreuung (LBB) to plan, build, and maintain facilities, and we regularly conduct workplace inspections. We identify deficiencies in occupational and fire safety and propose measures to address them.
The Environment Protection team is primarily responsible for monitoring and ensuring the proper disposal of waste generated on the campus of Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, including its associated external sites in the city and in Germersheim. Our area of responsibility covers the campus as well as all external sites in Mainz and Germersheim. An agreement with the University Medical Center ensures that its area on the campus premises is also covered.
Cleaning in the buildings is mostly carried out by external companies.
The cleaning tasks usually include vacuuming or mopping floors, cleaning windows and glass surfaces, and emptying garbage cans.
The exact tasks vary depending on how the room is used.
